The Significance
Baptism is an outward picture of what God did the moment we were saved. As a symbol of the believer’s death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, it identifies us with Jesus Christ.. Romans 6:3-4; Colossians 2:12
The Who
The Biblical pattern is that believers in the Lord Jesus should be baptized. While Baptism does not bring salvation, it does identify us as being saved. Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 8:35-38
The Importance
So, must I be baptized to be saved? No. Must I be baptized to be obedient? Yes. Being baptized is a privilege for the believer in Jesus Christ. It is our opportunity to let our friends and family that we have been saved! Ephesians 2:8-10; Acts 10:47-48
The How
The pattern and language of the New Testament reveals that the best means of symbolize our salvation is an immersion. The original word used for baptism was “to dip or plunge” and every New Testament example reveals this practice. Matthew 3:16; Romans 6:3-5
The Next Step
Your baptism is the first step of living in obedience to Jesus Christ, identifying yourself as one of His followers, and telling your world about Him. You have a new identity, a new family, and a new purpose! Acts 2:41-42; Matthew 28:19-20
